Halkos Botanicals

🇬🇧 EN: Cypriot love for botanical extracts can be traced back over four thousand years ago. Yes, back to the Bronze age, when the oldest discovered perfume factory in the world existed in Cyprus. Aromas used to be extracted via distillation of plants. Traces of pine, lavender, rosemary and more on terracotta were found during archeological discoveries, made in 2005, in Pyrgos, near Limassol. The fragrances made there used to be exported for trade throughout the Mediterranean. It is during the same period, when Cyprus gained its current name, coming from the Latin sign for copper Cu (Cupros), meaning Χαλκός (copper) in Greek, as the island is rich in the metal.

Our aromatic journey in Cyprus began four years ago, when we moved from England in search of a healthier, more fulfilling lifestyle. We come from a background of cosmetology and natural cosmetic formulation and creation.

Life on the island is everything we hoped for and more. We fell in love with the nature and history of Cyprus. So much so that we feel it is our calling to work with nature. We want to introduce more people to what we see on this fertile land and to the enchanting smells the nose detects in the air here. We take great pleasure in distilling for aromas in our copper alembic still. Another centuries old technique we use to capture the authentic aroma of flowers around us is enfleurage.

Our products contain no additives like preservatives and are the most pure Cypriot smells you can get your hands on.

We invite you to join us on an olfactory journey through the island of Aphrodite. It's an ongoing love affair with fragrant plants like flowers, herbs and trees.

🇨🇾 GR: Η κυπριακή αγάπη για τα βοτανικά εκχυλίσματα μπορεί να εντοπιστεί πριν από τέσσερις χιλιάδες χρόνια. Ναι, πίσω στην εποχή του Χαλκού, όταν το παλαιότερο ανακαλυφθέν εργοστάσιο αρωμάτων στον κόσμο υπήρχε στην Κύπρο. Παλαιότερα τα αρώματα εξάγονταν με απόσταξη φυτών. Ίχνη από πεύκο, λεβάντα, δεντρολίβανο και άλλα σε τερακότα βρέθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια αρχαιολογικών ανακαλύψεων, που έγιναν το 2005, στον Πύργο, κοντά στη Λεμεσό. Τα αρώματα που παρασκευάζονταν εκεί εξάγονταν για εμπόριο σε όλη τη Μεσόγειο. Είναι την ίδια περίοδο, όταν η Κύπρος απέκτησε το σημερινό της όνομα, προερχόμενο από το λατινικό σήμα για τον χαλκό Cu (Cupros), που σημαίνει Χαλκός (χαλκός) στα ελληνικά, καθώς το νησί είναι πλούσιο σε μέταλλο.

Το αρωματικό μας ταξίδι στην Κύπρο ξεκίνησε πριν από τέσσερα χρόνια, όταν μετακομίσαμε από την Αγγλία αναζητώντας έναν πιο υγιεινό, πιο ικανοποιητικό τρόπο ζωής. Προερχόμαστε από ένα υπόβαθρο κοσμετολογίας και φυσικής σύνθεσης και δημιουργίας καλλυντικών.

Η ζωή στο νησί είναι ό,τι περιμέναμε και όχι μόνο. Ερωτευτήκαμε τη φύση και την ιστορία της Κύπρου. Τόσο πολύ που νιώθουμε ότι είναι η κλήση μας να συνεργαστούμε με τη φύση. Θέλουμε να μυήσουμε περισσότερους ανθρώπους σε αυτό που βλέπουμε σε αυτή την εύφορη γη και με τις μαγευτικές μυρωδιές που ανιχνεύει η μύτη στον αέρα εδώ. Με μεγάλη μας χαρά αποστάζουμε για αρώματα στον χάλκινο αλέμβιο μας. Μια άλλη τεχνική αιώνων που χρησιμοποιούμε για να αποτυπώσουμε το αυθεντικό άρωμα των λουλουδιών γύρω μας είναι το enfleurage.

Τα προϊόντα μας δεν περιέχουν πρόσθετα όπως συντηρητικά και είναι οι πιο αγνές κυπριακές μυρωδιές που μπορείτε να πάρετε στα χέρια σας.
