Smell the fresh Cyprus riviera air with our botanical aroma PARALIA. In Greek the word παραλια means beach. The aroma evokes a feeling, associated with a holiday and fun moments. This is the third aromatic essence of our ''olfactory impressions of Cyprus'' series, which are dedicated to different areas of biodeversity on the island, at different altititudes. Here, we focus on the seacoast. 

Cyprus is an aromatic haven all year round. It is blessed with rich, fertile soil and Mediterannean sun, and we are simply besotted with it. Its biodiversity is so rich, the aromatic profile is spectacular. Every ingredient in our artisan creations is sourced and extracted locally. We have committed to supporting small local farmers and entrepreneurs by sourcing everything we use to make our botanical aromas, strictly from Cyprus. This includes our locally brewed artisan vini alcohol.

PARALIA by Halkos is a feeling. It is a dream of Cyprus, which first time visitors experience here. To the locals - the aroma is evokative of an association with their island, which they hold in teir hearts, when away. This scent is reminiscent of summer. With its zingy citrus openig, it is a feeling of thirst for life; an olfactory impression of a wake up call. It is a sense of freedom - as if all the fun and excitement to be had surrounded by your friends at your hide away beach awaits. Or the call for the luxury of being on your own, exploring breathtaking sea views, hiking amongst the sun-lit Cypress trees. The floral middle of this scent will steal your heart away forever, because here the superstar of this blend, the Jasmine, really shines through. Yes, the legendary Cypriot Jasmine was destined to be in PARALIA, just like you were destined to fall in love with Cyprus or to meet the love of your life here. Or as it often happens - to experince both. You will forever remember the first time you set foot on local soil, the first time you met them and held hands. Maybe you were walking side by side, smelling the Jasmine perfumed air in the dark of the night. Music from the numerous bars and taverns entertained your ears, while walking on the ancient cobbled streets of our enchanted island. With our scent's soft, leathery dry down, your first kiss is called to the forefront of your memories and the touch and smell of each other's skin is imprinted in your mind for good.

When smelling Halkos botanical aromas for the first time, forget your previous experience with scent. Dash your expectations, leave your perception of what you think it "should smell like" aside. Allow your nose and brain to explore and be surprised. Botanical aromas are in a league ot their own, where true and real nature smells are captured via traditional and ancient means of extraction, such as distillation, tincturing, maceration, enfleurage. The creative work around preparing each scent has been years in the making. Inspiration and creation took many unexpected twists and turns, countless blossoms and endless hours of dedication. They are in fact our love letters to Cyprus and true impressions of its nature.

Paralia's Jasmine heart is crafted using a technique, called enfleurage - the best way of extracting the scent of delicate flowers. It is a process, which continued durind two of the hottest summer months to gather fresh flowers and capture their scent on a pommade of fat and then a further month, where the scent had to be transfered and extracted into the perfume alcohol. 

Currently the scent is maturing in a cool, dark place. This is crucial for a product so alive and full of character - its ingredients are getting acquainted and befriending one another until a synergy is reached after 6 weeks of mingling and settling.
